Science
In partnership with Eastern Oregon University, CMEO is pleased to announce a 7-week long science program starting January 20: Simple Science!
Looking for something fun and educational to do after school? Check out CMEO’s “Simple Science” program!
Learn a new science topic every week with different student teachers from EOU who will engage participants in exciting hands-on and educational experiments!
When: Every Wednesday for seven weeks starting January 20 – March 4
Time: 3:45 – 5pm
Who: Great for 3rd – 7th graders!
Where: CMEO’s Science Lab exhibit
Simple Science Schedule:
Jan. 20: Acids, Bases and pH
What household substances are acids, bases, or neither? Learn about pH and what it means, and determine the pH of various common substances.
Jan. 27: Magnifiers and Lenses
How do lenses work? Learn about lenses and how light is changed by lenses. Make and use your own lenses.
Feb. 3: Fingerprint
Explore the uniqueness of fingerprints and your own fingerprint. Solve a mystery with fingerprint technology!
Feb. 10: Crime Lab
Who committed the crime?? Use scientific tests to solve a crime mystery.
Feb. 17: Light and Color
Find out how filters change the colors you can see and what colors combine to make different colors of light.
Feb. 24: Polymers
Learn about an interesting class of molecules. Make and experiment with polymers.
March 3: Chemical Reactions
Experiment to determine which substances react and what products are created.
Cost: $3 museum admission, members are free
Registration required, limit to 12 students per session
