Holiday Display

Our class made decorations for the school's display case. Our theme is "Tis' The Season To Be Freezin'." We made snowmen and penguins out of cylinders...which is a 3D shape. The display is across from the office if you would like to see it.

The Physics of Sound

Students are using a block and a tuning fork to make sound. They observed that the tuning fork vibrates while it is making sound.

The Dragon Prince

We read the story "The Dragon Prince" which is like a Chinese "Beauty and the Beast". Then we made our own Chinese Dragons.

The Drop

Students dropped their eggs from the top of the playground. Only three eggs broke. Great job class!

Building Egg Containers for the Drop

BT made a parachute.

CT used marshmallows in his container.

Looking at Eggs

Students looked at the inside of their eggs. They identified the yolk, egg white, shell membrane, air space, germ spot, chalazae (the white cords that work as shock absorbers), and the egg shell.

Fun in the Sun

CK and BT

Our class is enjoying the sun while we can. Autumn is officially here.

Egg measuring

We used string and rulers to measure around our eggs. Most of our eggs are 14 cm horizontally and 16 cm vertically. Two eggs were broken in the process of measuring them. :(

Birthday Kids

CK brought candy for everyone.

MM brought dirt pudding...yum!

Egg Project

So far we have rolled our eggs and measured them. We also stacked 16 science books on 4 eggs before they cracked. Eggs are amazing!

Mrs. Liscom

We got to know our new Principal by interviewing her. Her name is Mrs. Liscom. She was a lot of fun to have in the classroom!

Egg Drop

Dear Parents,
In science we are starting Egg Experiments. Students will be creating break proof containers for their eggs at the end of the unit for a fun competition. Please save any shoe boxes, empty paper towel rolls, newspaper, egg cartons, cracker boxes, and so forth for them to use in their design. We will make containers on Thursday, September 24th.

Thanks for your help,
Mrs. Cain
